This is the far end of the list. Assets here can move more in an hour than gold moves in a quarter, in either direction, driven by attention rather than by anything you can model.

At this level of movement the multiplier almost stops being the deciding variable, because even a low one leaves a liquidation distance that an ordinary minute can cross. A bet here is a short-duration bet whether you intended it to be or not.

The arithmetic is the same on every asset and it is worth restating here, because it is the thing that transfers between them: a multiplier of n means a move of roughly 1/n against you exhausts the wager. At 10x that is a ten percent move; at 100x, one percent; at 1000x, a tenth of a percent. The leverage page has a calculator that will do it for a specific wager and entry price.

The trap is the story. Assets in this class come with a reason to believe, and the stronger the reason feels the larger the wager tends to be. The reason may even be correct; the position is settled by the path the price takes on the way, not by where it ends up.

• Work out the liquidation distance for your multiplier before you open, not from the panel afterwards.
